Along with other public sector organizations, RAF Halton is under remit to generate income; it achieves this by selling training and letting facilities.
RAF Halton markets a wide range of courses to a variety of customers which include Foreign and Commonwealth countries, Ministry of Defence contractors and civilian companies. We run training courses in the following areas: Leadership and Management Training, Health and Safety Training, Environmental Protection Training, Catering Training, Secretarial Training, Supply Training and Police and Security Training. The course vary in length from one day to several months and many have civilian accreditation. In general, we tend to sell spare places on courses which form a core part of RAF training; however, availability of instructors permitting, we can also run ad-hoc training courses at customers‘ requests. We have also run team building courses for outside organizations using the facilities and expertise of the Airmans’ Command Squadron.
RAF Halton’s extensive grounds are home to a range of sporting facilities which include 2 gymnasiums, a swimming pool, a football stadium, indoor and outdoor tennis courts, and an Astroturf hockey pitch. There is also a modern, well-appointed sports pavilion.
These facilities are hired by many local sporting clubs including Wycombe Wanderers Football Club.
The Station also generates income in more unusual ways. For example, Halton House Officers’ Mess, an imposing Rothschild mansion, has used as a location for filming of various films and TV programmes. Moreover, we have a large amount of hangar space which can be hired by organisations to mount exhibitions.
